More livingroom

Getting some furniture in the livingroom

We have got some decorating done in the livingroom. It's still quite bare and doesn't look lived in yet. It's because we are not living there yet. We still need the electrician to come, and we want to wait another week before letting the dogs in. That way the paint has dried a whole month so it should be as hard as it gets. I'm worried what dog nails will do to our pretty white floors.

Getting some furniture in the livingroom

We found the bookshelf a year and a half ago at a thrift store. It cost only 35 euros! (48 dollars) It has been waiting ever since for the renovation. Well, actually most of the furniture here we have collected from flea markets and thrift stores over these couple of years, and finally I feel like they have found their home.

Getting some furniture in the livingroom

The pillows are one of the few things we've bought new. The elephant pillow is from the London Cushion Company and the squirrel is by Varpunen. The Kartell Stone stool is a birthday present from Panu.

Getting some furniture in the livingroom

We also need to frame some art that's been waiting in the closet. I'd like to make a collage wall above the chest of drawers. But I don't know what kind of frames they should be. All the same, or a variety of different types? The images are all a bit different. All have some turquoise or green in them, but different sizes and shapes. Maybe if the matt and frame material/color were the same they would look more harmonious. But then, I don't know if I want harmonious!

Oh, and did I mention I ended up getting the Hay Hee chairs last summer? We brought them inside for the winter. (Yes, it is almost winter here.)

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Ihailen kyllä rohkeuttasi värien kanssa. Jännät yhdistelmät ja hyvältä näyttää. Olisipa meilläkin noin siistiä...

looking good! Could you lay the pictures out on the floor and see how they look together? We did that because we decided to integrate some color photos in with our b/w ones and that was a good visual help.

Heidi, kiitos!

juliette, I was thinking about that for the layout. But maybe I need the frames first before it works? I don't know, I'm just having trouble visualising the whole thing.

Lovely! Juuri tällaisen nerokkaan värien käytön takia alan kaivata vaihtelua mustavalkoisuudelle omas kodis. Ihan herkku!

Tuo kangas on aivan mieletön..

RuusuLiisa, sohvaryhmässä on kuulemma alkuperäinen verhoilu.

Kurjuus!

Oh, how great!! It's really coming together beautifully. Choosing frames is always a dilemma for me. I have a closet full of frames and a closet full of art to be done. sigh. I'm sure you'll do a great job. Winter already? Oh, no!

Thank you for your sweet comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the beach photos. :) xo - g

Georgianna, I LOVED your beach photos! :) We don't have snow yet but there's frost in the mornings, so we are preparing for the winter.

I've always loved mixing new and old things together, I think it gives a room such soul and a bit of 'oomph!!'.

Finding lovely old vintage type furniture and giving it a new home and shining it up is such a satisfying thing to do!!

Love your new things as well.... I'm envious of the stool, I've always wanted one of those, and it's in RED, my favourite decorating colour - woohoo!!

Thanks so much for linking up to my bookcase linky, your bookcase was a steal for that money, and looking good!

Hi Jutta, A BYW friend here via Linda's bookcase linky party. What a lovely living room you have. I know you have yet to personalize it and add more of your things but wow, it looks great. I love the look maybe because I'm a thrifting hound myself but I really enjoy how you've assembled a lot of disparate pieces and put them together in a very pleasing design.

Regarding the pictures, just lay them out on the floor without the frames and try to imagine them w/various frames. At the very least photograph the arrangements that you like best. It's what I do before hanging mine, even without the frames to help me further along in the process of putting together an art wall.

Your blog design is beautiful, by the way.

My favourite colour combination is yellow and grey at the moment and I just love your two seater couch. The red with it looks great too!
